VAULT Art Gallery

One of Vermont’s hidden artistic treasures. See what you can find in the VAULT – whether it’s a conversation about art, a new piece for your home, learning from a local artist, or an art camp for the kids. Located in Springfield Vermont, this is a fantastic venue to learn about the arts and attend a workshop or program. Just a 25-minute drive from the Golden Stage Inn Bed and Breakfast.

Our bed and breakfast, located in Proctorsville VT, is very close to several great art & craft facilities.  One of these is the Vault Gallery in Springfield, VT.  It is about 20 minutes’ drive away from Golden Stage Inn, located in the downtown of an old industrial town located right on the Black River.  The VAULT Gallery showcases uniquely creative arts and handmade crafts from around Vermont.  It is accessible, affordable, modern and gorgeous.  The summer exhibition’s focus is flowers.

The VAULT gallery also offers art classes for wannabe artists and seasoned crafters alike.  There are even camps for your kids – if you’d like to get some alone time during your vacation!  Check out the offerings for 2014 summer at the Vault:

Art Workshops for Adults

Saturday, July 26 (rain date Sunday, July 27)

Plein Air Workshop in Watercolor Instructor: Rob O’Brien AWS, NWS
This class will meet at the gallery and then set off for a day of outdoor painting. The workshop will begin with a demonstration by the instructor followed by student painting. A critique and discussion will take place at the end of class.

Sun and Shade – Late Summer Landscape in Pastel
Instructor: Robert Carsten, PSA-M, IAPS-MC
Explore the Dynamics of painting the warm, sunlit landscape, the coolness of a special shady spot or how to include both in one composition. How you convey that feel of late summer in your work and that lovely golden light that we experience as the sun moves lower on the horizon as we start shifting toward autumn. Working from your sketches or photos, we will explore concepts of color design, and techniques. Various approaches will be presented and demonstrated. Critique, at easel assistance, and lots of painting time will make this an educational and enjoyable painting experience. All levels welcome from beginner through advanced.

Art Camps for Kids

VACATION ART CAMP
Held at Parks and Rec on 139 Main Street
Mon-Fri July 21 to 25 
9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Experiment with Papermaking
Taught by Diane Kemble and Melissa Post
Create your own handmade papers! Start with paper scraps and water. Churn it up in a blender. Add dried flowers, colored threads, and other surprises. Press through a screen, dry and iron. Then use your paper to make cards, books, night lights, collages, and other creations.
 
Age 8 and up Art Camp Fee $70. Class size limited. Pre-registration required.

April Classes at the Vault Gallery, Springfield Vermont

Vault-Art-Gallery-In-Springfield-VTMany of you may be familiar with Fletcher Farm School for the Arts & Crafts here in Ludlow Vermont.  But did you know there’s another great gallery nearby Golden Stage Inn?  The VAULT Gallery in Springfield, Vermont is just a 25-minute drive from our bed and breakfast.  The Vault offers programs and workshops for all ages, from half-day workshops to week-long kids’ art camps.  You can also just pop you head in for a quick peek at the local crafts and art featured in the gallery as you stroll through downtown Springfield.  Be warned though, a quick glance may rope you in to admiring the artwork for longer than you expected!  Back in December, I entered the Vault gallery to purchase a Christmas card…I walked out a full hour later after looking at the many unique pieces and having a conversation with the gallery’s volunteers.

Visit Vermont’s VAULT art gallery this spring to explore classes and programs that suit your abilities and interests…

  • April 5th: Felt a Panda with Instructor Sue Carey.  Participants will felt an adorable 6-inch tall panda bear.  Suitable for beginning and intermediate felters, you will walk away with a knowledge of felting techniques, including how to make your felt soft and fuzzy!  Tuition is $25; Materials fee is $25.  This class runs from noon to 4pm.Vacation-Art-Camp-at-VAULT-Gallery-Vermont
  • April 14th & 15th: Vacation Art Camp!  Draw Fantasy Creatures with Christine Mix. Get your child creative over their school break, with elves, dragons, fairies, knights and more. Suitable for children ages 10 and up.  Art class is from 1-3pm at the Parks & Rec Building at 139 Main Street.  Fee is $10 per child; register early for a spot.
  • April 14, 15 & 17: Vacation Art Camp!  Look at Me: Adventures in Creating Portraits with Ginger Maciejowski and Diane Kemble. Suitable for children ages 7+; Fee is $10 per child. Use watercolors, mosaics and colored pencils to make different kinds of portraits! This art class runs from 9:30-11:30 am. 
  • April 19th: Painting Spectacular Flowers in Watercolor with Robert O’Brien. Over the course of the day, you will learn basic flower-painting techniques from a renowned painter.  This painting class is suitable for painters of all abilities, including beginners.  Start with a demonstration by the instructor, followed by a class with hands-on guidance.  Finish the day with a critique and discussion, taking home your own beautiful piece of artwork!  Class fee is $75, and will last from 9:30am to 4pm.
